GRWM Before Chemo: Light Makeup, Big Energy

Chemo days aren't cute - but I am ;)

Okay, seriously though - on the mornings I head to treatment, I carve out a little time for a soft, simple makeup routine. Not to hide anything. Not to glam it up. Just to enhance what’s already there and remind myself: I still get to feel good, even when I’m not 100%. A little bit of routine, a little bit of ritual - it helps me feel like me before facing the meds.

Here’s my GRWM before chemo - step-by-step, plus a few favourite products I swear by for light coverage, comfort, and that "I got this" energy.

Skin Prep

I always start with a gentle moisturizer to keep my skin calm and hydrated. Chemo can be brutal on the skin, so I go for something lightweight but nourishing. Right now I’m loving

La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermallergo Fluide Soin Hydratant Visage - super soothing.

Then, SPF - even if I’m not outside much. I use La Roche Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Crème Solaire fluide invisible SPF50+ because protection is part of self-care, too.

Light Coverage

Not going for a fancy outing or a pageant - just aiming to feel fresh. I use a skin tint or BB cream, just enough to even things out and brighten up without the fuss or the cakey feel. My go-to is No.7 Protect & Perfect Advanced All In One Foundation SPF50+, it gives me a soft, healthy look, like I’ve slept more than I actually have (spoiler: I haven’t).

Brows

Even when everything else feels off, brows bring me back.

I use KIKO Cosmetics Eyebrow sculpt automatic pencil #5 Deep Brunette to lightly fill and shape, then fluff them up with a spoolie. Clean, soft definition that frames my face and honestly lifts my mood every time.

Mascara

Just a quick swipe to wake my eyes up a little - nothing dramatic. I curl my lashes and use MÊME Mascara for a light lift and definition. No clumps, no flakes, just a little “I’m alive and I have lashes” energy.

Cream Blush

Blush is my secret weapon. I dab a little MÊME Cosmetics Blush  high on my cheeks for that “I swear I’m awake” vibe. Cream blush melts into the skin and gives just enough flush to look fresh. I also tap a bit just below my eyebrow bones to add a subtle highlight and extra sass.

Lips

Lip balm is non-negotiable. I layer on MÊME Baume à lèvres for hydration, then tap on a tiny bit of my absolute favourite lipstick (Kylie Crème Lipstick shade Talk is Cheap) - just a tint. That pop of colour gives me a boost. It’s like... "yes, I'm going to treatment, but I'm also still a badass in lipstick."

My honest favourite makeup that makes me feel good.
My honest favourite makeup that makes me feel good.

Why This Matters

This isn’t about looking “done up.” It’s about feeling grounded - feeling like me when so much of this journey can feel out of control. Chemo takes a lot, but it doesn’t get to take my sense of self.

This little GRWM is a gentle reminder that I’m still here. Still showing up. Still choosing to feel good - even in small ways.

Final Thought

If you’re going through something similar - whether it’s cancer, chronic illness, or just a tough time - know this: you deserve to feel good. Even a little lip balm and a deep breath can be a win.

Drop your favourite low-effort feel-good products below - I love trying new things. And remember:

Soft beat. Strong heart. Always.

P.S. I’m not sponsored or getting any commission for sharing the products mentioned - just sharing my honest favourites that make me feel good.
